Through the Digital Dreamers Initiative
Floods have left communities across Sumatra rebuilding homes, livelihoods and routines. The Digital Dreamers Initiative looks at recovery from another angle: what happens when young people from those communities are given digital skills and the chance to lead?
Rather than waiting for recovery to be done to them, young people step up as storytellers, organisers and problem-solvers, showing that leadership can grow even in the hardest circumstances.

Young people live much of their lives online, and the internet brings both opportunity and risk. This handbook supports safe, responsible and impactful digital citizenship, so young people can use their voices online with confidence.
Programme
A creative hub turning youth ideas into real, community-driven projects.
The Dream Factory is where ideas are turned into projects. It is the creative hub where The Leader’s team, including participants from NextGen! Lead, brings young people’s ideas to life with real community needs at the centre.
Movement
A community-led movement building peace and solidarity among young people.
Meuseuraya is an Acehnese word for working together. These initiatives carry that spirit into peace and solidarity work led by young people, so communities can face tension and change side by side.
Programme
Mentorship and coaching for the next generation of change-makers.
DreamMakers supports the next generation of change-makers with mentorship and coaching. Young people with a vision get guidance, encouragement and a community of peers who believe their dreams are worth pursuing.
NextGen! Lead brings ten young people into The Leader’s team and The Dream Factory each cycle, with a bootcamp, six months of mentoring and coaching, and a network to grow with.
